Monash University Diploma Pathway

Monash University Diploma Pathway offers a fast-track route into second-year university for international students. This pathway provides an academic foundation and individual support for students who want to enroll in Monash University. The Diploma Pathway at Monash University includes two parts. Part 1 is designed to help students build foundational knowledge and students will undertake basic courses related to their diploma study area. The program duration for Diploma Program Part 1 is 9 months. While in Part 2, students will learn the same subjects as first-year University students, based on the major they choose. After completing Part 2, students are eligible to enter the second year of their chosen undergraduate degree at Monash University. The duration for Part 2 is from 4 to 12 months, and it also depends on the chosen study areas. Engineering students are required to complete 12 months in Part 2. The intakes for the Monash Diploma Program are in February, June and October. Students who are in Grade 12 can directly enter Diploma Part 2, which will replace the first year of their university degree. This offers students the advantage of continuing their university studies while benefiting from lower tuition fees for the first year and meeting the entry requirements with a lower IELTS score. There is no additional duration for those who enter Part 2 directly, allowing a smooth transition into their chosen undergraduate degree. Furthermore, if a student is interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree but is still under 18, they can first complete the diploma program since the age requirement for the bachelor’s program is 18 years old. This gives any students the opportunity to start their university journey earlier. Study Areas The Diploma program covers a wide range of fields, including: ● Applied Data Science ● Education ● Arts ● Engineering ● Art and Design ● Information Technology ● Business ● Science If the students are interested in other fields such as law, medicine, nursing, health sciences, or pharmacy, they will need to complete a foundation year instead. Entry Requirements: ● Must be at least 16 years old ● Meet academic requirements ● Australian year 11, year 12, or equivalent ● IELTS Overall 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 (Part 1); IELTS Overall 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 (Part 2). Conclusion Monash University’s Diploma Pathway is the right choice for students looking to fast-track their university education but will want to be extra prepared. The flexibility of the program, the guarantee of entry into second-year university, and the same quality teaching staff as the degree program, and broad study areas available, make it a great option for international students to begin their journey at Monash University.
